Proofreading for grammar

For many of us, grammar is a struggle at one level or another. Sometimes we can write thousands of words of text, believing it's all correct, only to find out later that the grammar mistakes are a dime a dozen. What's even more frustrating is a word processor's built-in proofreader that indicates everything in your text is correct even though it isn't.

Babylon 9 uses the latest dictionaries and reference sources to make sure it remains up to date. When you use the software's proofreading function you can rest assured it's utilizing the latest standards in grammar and spelling. It's currently only available in English, but the developers are working on porting it to the rest of the program's languages right now.

Using the proofreading function

Babylon's proofreading function works the same way as the spelling. When you're working in a document or e-mail, you'll see a yellow icon appear in the left corner of your screen. Simply click on that icon to set Babylon in motion. It will scan and proofread your entire text and let me know if any potential problems have been spotted. You can use one of Babylon's suggestions for correction or you can figure out the corrections on your own.

If you prefer to use keystrokes rather than mouse navigation you can also activate Babylon's proofreading with the F9 key. It works in:

Outlook Express and other e-mail programs
Microsoft Office; most other office suites should be compatible
Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, and most other web browsers

Proofreading makes you a better writer

Babylon 9's proofreading function not only corrects spelling and grammar mistakes in your writing, but can also make you a better writer through repetition. For example, if you pay attention to proofreading and notice you're consistently using the incorrect spelling of certain words, the repetition of replacing that word with the correct version will help you to remember it in the future.

Proofreading is a viable tool with a lot of benefits. It's available in the trial version of Babylon, which is free to download, but it does become inaccessible once your trial software expires.
